      Full-time temporary position available on or after January 9, 2023 and ending on or before December 31, 2024 in Basic Needs.  (Appointment will be made with the possibility of reappointment and/or becoming permanent based on budget, department needs, and job performance.)

      Under the direction of the Care Manager, the Student Care Coordinator is part of the Basic Needs unit providing direct student service support for student dealing with COVID-19. With a primary emphasis on providing information and resources, contact tracing, student care caseload management, and documentation, the incumbent is empowered to work within established policies and guidelines and to make appropriate decisions on behalf of the unit and in a manner which best supports student holistic well-being. Working as part of a team, the Student Care Coordinator supports the overall institutional COVID-19 response and provides general support of the Basic Needs portfolio as needed.

    • Job Duties
    • Duties include but are not limited to:
      • Provide direct student service support for students dealing with COVID-19.
      • Meet with students to assess the level of crisis and provide campus- based resources and referrals and make any external referrals when needed.
      • Assist students in applying for on-campus emergency grant aid programs and other forms as needed.
      • Use own judgement to provide intervention for students with immediate definable needs such as COVID-19, shelter, food, financial, transportation, etc., or refer to Care Manager and other departments as needed.
      • Coordinate support services, including referral and liaison with Stanislaus County, Center for Human Services, social services, mental health services, housing agencies, financial support agencies, food services, etc. for students in need.
      • Provide support to students in accessing various services and send follow up communications (e.g. emails, phone calls or meetings) with students.
      • Prepare and submit student records regularly and timely in Maxient, EAB and other tracking mechanisms as needed.
      • Coordinate and document follow-up care with students referred to on and off campus resources.
      • Create and maintain active databases of various community programs, groups, and mental health clinics that provide housing, financial support, or food services, etc., for students in need.
      • Assist with establishing working linkages with a variety of community agencies providing mental health services, health care, social services.
      • Provide students with options for community services, i.e., agencies providing shelter, food, financial, transportation and legal services in local areas, low-cost referrals for students with limited funds for psychological services, etc.
      • Follow at all times the professional code of conduct.
      • Participate in weekly Student Care meetings.
      • Support the overall institutional COVID-19 response and tracking.
      • Manage and track COVID-19 related reports using Maxient.
      • Run Maxient (COVID-19) reports in compliance with Cal OSHA reporting and tracking requirements.
      • Work within the assigned student case load.
      • Adhere to state and local guidelines with regard to contacting individuals who tested positive, or have been identified as close contacts, gather information, provide guidance, and track positive cases.
      • Directly report cases to COVID-19 Care Lead as required to report to the Department of Public Health.
      • Compile and prepare reporting documents to COVID-19 Care Lead for submission to University, Chancellor’s Office and others as needed.
      • Prepare reports to submit to the COVID-19 Care Lead to notify unions in writing when a positive COVID-19 case is confirmed on campus.
      • Provide notice to individuals identified as close-contacts, provide guidance for required quarantine and isolation periods per CDC guidance which can be outside of normal working hours.
      • Maintain compliance with AB 685, SB 1159, and any and all other local, state, and federal requirements
      • Represent the university and Basic Needs at conferences, professional development workshops, training and meetings.
      • Serve on department, division and campus-wide committees as a Basic Needs representative as needed.
      • Provide consultation and presentations to faculty, staff and students in providing early intervention of at-risk students, and increasing awareness of COVID-19 resources that are available.
      • Provide presentations at New Student Orientation and other outreach events as needed.
      • Create presentations and adapt to target audiences as needed, facilitate an open exchange of ideas, and write clear, concise notes, documents, and reports.
      • Coordinate Student COVID-19 Care program development, assessment, marketing and outreach and engagement on the Turlock and Stockton Campus and make recommendations to Care Manager.
      • Provide program procedural recommendations and maintain records documenting number of Student COVID-19 Care cases, outreach activities, etc. to the Care Manager.
      • Ensure up-to-date maintenance of required documentation, web-based resources, reports and student records in accordance with university policies, government regulation and accreditation standards.
      • Perform other duties as assigned by the Care Manager to ensure the success of the COVID-19 Student Care Support and Basic Needs on behalf of the university, students, employers and alumni.
      • Other duties as assigned.
    • Minimum Qualifications
    • Experience:  Equivalent of two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth. (A master’s degree in a job‑related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.)  

      Education:  Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job‑related field. (Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities may be substituted for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis.)

    • Preferred Qualifications

      • Masters’ degree in Social Work, Counseling, Public Health, Student Affairs, or related field.
      • Experience working with a diverse group of individuals and multicultural university environment and demonstrated skill in assisting and speaking with persons of various ages, socio-economic, cultural and/or educational backgrounds.
      • Prior experience working with or awareness of colleges student who have experienced financial difficulties/hardships and/or emergencies situations.
      • Working knowledge of campus, local community and private health and welfare resources.
      • Ability to carry out a variety of professionally complex assignments without detailed instructions.
      • Ability to efficiently develop, implement, coordinate and evaluate student advising programs.
      • Ability to communicate and work effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
      • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to effectively handle a broad range of interpersonal contacts.
      • Ability to coordinate, organize and demonstrate command of a complex and continually changing array of information, dates, places and people.
      • Strong computer skills with experience with a broad range of Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) in order to prepare a wide variety of corresponded, reports, presentations, etc.

      • Working knowledge of the practices, procedures and activities of the program to which assigned.
      • General knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational and program management.
      • General knowledge of research and interview techniques; and of the principles of individual and group behavior.
      • Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations.
      • Ability to use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements.
      • Ability to obtain factual and interpretive information through interviews.
      • Ability to reason logically; ability to collect, compile, analyze and evaluate data and make verbal or written presentation based on these data.
      • Ability to advise students individually and in groups on routine matters where required;
      • Ability to recognize multicultural, multi-sexed and multi-aged value systems and work accordingly.
      • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, CSU administrators, student organizations, private and public agencies and others in committee work, and student advising and community contacts.
      • Ability to rapidly acquire a general knowledge of the overall operation, functions and programs of the campus to which assigned.
      • Demonstrated ability to make decisions and carry through actions having implications with regard to other program or service areas.
    • Special Conditions

      • Ability to lift, move and/or carry up to 50 pounds push 100 pounds on a cart.
    • Salary Range
    • Anticipated salary will be $4,610 – $5,302 per month plus excellent paid benefits. Salary will depend on the qualifications of the successful finalist. (Full SSP ii range: $4,610 - $6,556 per month)
