POSITION:

Assistant or Associate Professor of Computer Information Systems: The Department of Management Information Systems invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Computer Information Systems at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, beginning August 2027.

Responsibilities for the person appointed to this position include:

• Providing effective teaching and mentoring to students as they progress through their academic career. Teaching responsibilities for this position will be fulfilled at our Turlock campus.
• Maintaining an active program of scholarship that satisfies AACSB Scholarly Academic (SA) qualification standards.
• Providing service to the Department of Management Information Systems, the College of Business Administration, the University, and the profession.
• Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Computer Information Systems and related areas, with particular emphasis on Artificial Intelligence and Business Analytics. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the development and continuous improvement of curriculum in these rapidly evolving areas.
• Collaborating with faculty on curriculum development, assessment, and interdisciplinary initiatives; establishing relationships with industry partners; and supporting student engagement through applied and experiential learning opportunities.
• Depending on expertise and departmental needs, contributing to courses or interdisciplinary initiatives related to operations and supply chain management is desirable.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

An earned Ph.D. in Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Business Analytics, Business Administration with a concentration in Information Systems or a closely related discipline from an AACSB-accredited doctoral institution at the time of appointment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, as evidenced by strong teaching evaluations by students and a strong record of engaging students across instructional modalities, including in-person, online, and hybrid formats.

• Academic, teaching, research, and/or industry experience in Artificial Intelligence applications for business, including emerging areas such as generative AI, large language models, agentic AI, machine learning, or AI-enabled decision support.

• Experience developing and teaching courses in Computer Information Systems and related areas, including but not limited to:

o Artificial Intelligence for Business
o Business Analytics and Data Visualization
o Data Management and Database Systems
o Systems Analysis and Design
o Application Development
o Business Intelligence, Data Mining, or Big Data Analytics
o Cloud Computing, Enterprise Systems, or other emerging information technologies

• Demonstrated success in curriculum innovation, instructional design, or program development that enhances student learning outcomes and career readiness.

• Experience developing innovative curricula aligned with evolving industry needs, particularly in Artificial Intelligence and Analytics.

• Evidence of an active research agenda with demonstrated potential to publish in respected, peer-reviewed information systems, business analytics, artificial intelligence, or related journals.

• Ability or interest in teaching in operations management and/or supply chain management, particularly analytics, digital supply chains, AI applications in operations, or related areas, is highly desirable.

• Relevant industry or professional experience is desirable.

• Demonstrated commitment to fostering student success in a diverse learning environment and supporting students from a wide range of cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

COMPENSATION:

Commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Anticipated hiring range is $10,566- $12,132 per month for Assistant Professor (12 monthly payments per academic year).  As a member of the 23-campus CSU System, we offer an extremely competitive benefits package.

The university requires a criminal and/or child abuse background check to be completed for many of its new employees, current employees seeking promotional or transfer opportunities, and current employees assigned new duties. Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment.
