    • Position Summary
    • Temporary hourly-intermittent student assistant positions available in Campus Recreation.

    • License/Certifications
    • First Aid and CPR Certification required (training will be provided within one month of hiring).

    • Start Date
    • Positions available on or after August 10, 2026 and ending on or before May 31, 2027.  Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.

    • Job Description/Duties

    • Duties include but are not limited to:
      • Assist and maintain cleanliness of equipment and facility.
      • Assist with equipment preventative maintenance.
      • Assist with maintaining equipment and report any safety or maintenance need in shift reports.
      • Assist in moving and storing equipment as needed for surplus preparation.
      • Assist in enforcing policies and procedures regarding safe and proper use of the equipment and facility.
      • Develop professional relationships with co-workers, participants and guests.
      • Assist in monitoring safety of all patrons.
      • First responder to emergency situations and provide first aid and/or CPR until professional help arrives.
      • Provide quality customer service for all patrons.
      • Communicate with the Fitness Center Attendants.
      • Assist as needed in all required departmental functions.
      • Other duties as assigned.

       

    • Qualifications
    • Preferred Qualifications:
      • Must have a flexible schedule and must be able to work weekends. Facility is open 7 days per week
      • Flexible schedule.
      • First Aid and CPR Certification required (training will be provided within one month of hiring).
      • Demonstrate previous experience in a gym/facility maintenance setting. Candidate certified in CPR, First Aid, and AED.
      • Demonstrates general knowledge of Recreation Sports and fitness activities'.
      • Demonstrates effective organizational and time management skills.
      • Demonstrates ability to work independently.
      • Demonstrates experience in maintaining equipment.
      • Demonstrates effective management of emergency situations including injuries and first aid procedures.
      • Demonstrates effective customer service in dealing with difficult situations, concerns and complaints.
      • Required to attend annual and semester staff training. Exact dates to be determined.

      Required Qualifications:
      • Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
      • Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units. 
    • Salary Range
    • $16.90 per hour.
