Faculty Employment Opportunity

POSITION:

Part-Time Lecturer in Theatre. The Theatre Department invites applications for a part-time lecturer pool to teach Theatre courses that serve the university's General Education goals, including: Introduction to Theatre, Acting for Non-Majors, and Playgoing. Candidates should be prepared to document experience with students of diverse backgrounds and/or professional credits within the field demonstrating professional sensitivity to diversity and inclusion. Members of under-represented communities are strongly encouraged to apply.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

M.A. in Theatre with compelling evidence of impressive undergraduate teaching or strong professional experience. Demonstrated experience working with students of diverse backgrounds.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

MFA or PhD strongly preferred, along with evidence of impressive undergraduate teaching. Familiarity (and certification or training) with online curricular delivery systems is highly desired (including hybrid and fully online teaching modes).

COMPENSATION:

Commensurate with qualifications and experience.  As a member of the 23-campus CSU System, we offer an extremely competitive benefits package.

Newly hired lecturers with terminal degrees are placed in Range 3 of the salary schedule and others are normally placed in Range 2. Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules are prorated based on the number of units assigned and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. Housed in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; and accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST) the Stan State Theatre Department is a small, collegial department of teacher-practitioners committed to diverse classroom and hands-on training for our majors, minors, and concentrations. The Department offers a general BA in Theatre with tracks in either Performance or Design and Technology. CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CLEARANCE NOTICE

 

The university requires a criminal and/or child abuse background check to be completed for many of its new employees, current employees seeking promotional or transfer opportunities, and current employees assigned new duties. Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
