    • Position Summary
    • Multiple temporary hourly-intermittent Work-Study Student Assistant positions available in the University Library.


    • Start Date
    • Position available on or after January 2, 2024 and ending on or before May 31, 2024. Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.



    • Job Description/Duties
    • Duties include but are not limited to:
      • Assist users at the Circulation Desk, in the book stacks, and/or study areas.
      • Answer directional and library service-related questions in-person or by phone.
      • Refer questions to librarians or staff when appropriate.
      • Monitor and report issues with library protocol compliance to Circulation supervisors.
      • Assist library staff in monitoring public areas in the library.
      • Retrieve returned materials from outdoor book drops.
      • Shelve and retrieve all types of library materials.
      • Perform shelf-reading functions.
      • Use the computerized library system to check materials in and out.
      • Assist patrons in the use of library equipment (computers, printers, copy machine, etc.).
      • Assist with opening and closing of library.
      • Record statistics.

      Other duties as assigned.

    • Qualifications













    • Preferred Qualifications:
      • Must be responsible/dependable and report to scheduled shifts on time.
      • Must work well independently and with others.
      • Demonstrated ability to use computer; type; alphabetize; take/follow directions from a supervisor.
      • Must be able to interact with library users and remain alert at service desk(s).

      Required Qualifications:
      • Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
      • Must have received and accepted Financial Aid award for the current semester/year in which you are applying.
