    • Position Summary
    • One temporary hourly-intermittent Work-Study Student Assistant position in the University Police Department.

    • Days/Hours
    • 15-20hrs / week.

    • Start Date
    • Position available on or after November 20, 2023 and ending on or before May 31, 2024. Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.

    • Job Description/Duties
    • Duties include but are not limited to:
      • Under the instruction of the Financial & Budget Analyst lead, classify expenses into budgeted categories and have curiosity to learn how to use Excel, how to set up Excel pivot tables to compare budgeted to actual expenses, and how to use formulas to calculate variances.
      • Assist the Financial & Budget Analyst in refining processes to enhance data collection, efficiencies, internal controls, procedures, and accountability.
      • With training and mentorship from the Financial & Budget Analyst Lead, assist with entry-level tasks that contribute to the development of budget reports, forecasting, financial analysis, comparisons, and general reports to support the University Police Department and its various programs such as Parking, Livescan, and PMB.
      • Assist the Financial & Budget Analyst and the department in ensuring its expenditures comply with campus policies by becoming familiar with the financial service’s website and resources, and the University’s policies and regulations by performing continuous research.
      • Assist in collecting and maintaining statistics and data for planning and reporting purposes.
      • Assist the Finance & Budget Analyst Lead with collecting information from Livescan forms that will be used for the monthly chargebacks and outside billing.
      • Assist with responding to inquiries via email from the updfinance email account and communicating with the Financial & Budget Analyst lead for guidance.
      • Assist with organizing UPD finance emails in their appropriate folders and categories.
      • Assist with scanning, photocopying, data entry, and maintenance of finance files.
      • Assist with retrieving and sorting incoming finance mail, separating bills based on due dates, and communicating with the Financial & Budget Analyst Lead for questions.
      • Assist with general clerical duties, which include but are not limited to filing, phone calls, and emails.
      • At times, this position may serve to support other areas of operation from the University Police Department such as the front desk, PMB, Parking, Patrol, and Livescan services, as needed.
      • Assist the department with assigned campus events and support officers during campus activities such as Move-in Day, Warrior Expo, Warrior Day, Commencement, Trainings, Presentations, and Tabling events.

      Other duties as assigned.

      Required Qualifications:
      • Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
      • Must have received and accepted Financial Aid award for the current semester/year in which you are applying.
