    • Position Summary
    • Two (2) temporary hourly-intermittent student assistant positions available in Student Leadership and Development.


    • Start Date
    • Positions available on or after June 12, 2023 and ending on or before August 31, 2023. Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.

    • Job Description/Duties
    • Duties include but are not limited to:
      • Maintaining PeopleSoft & CashNet data reports database in regards to orientation data, which includes freshman and transfer student registration.
      • Assist in the day to day and general operations of the NSO area including but not limited to answering telephones, returning emails, reserving all spaces for each orientation, data entry and reports in PeopleSoft, program logistics and editing the university website when needed.
      • Serve as a positive role model and welcome new students and family members, and assist them during orientation sessions.
      • Serve as a resource person to incoming students and families; develop a rapport with new students and their families as well as maintaining an open communication with Stanislaus State personnel.
      • Serve as a liaison with faculty and staff members, Orientation Leaders and members of Stanislaus State administration to facilitate the success of all aspects of the New Student Orientation Program.
      • Maintain contact as needed with prospective students, their parents, high school counselors and teachers to promote Stanislaus State as a first choice university.
      • Facilitate small group discussions related to academic and community expectations, student life issues and answer participant questions.
      • Aid in the coordination of class schedules and assist in the registration progress.
      • Assist in preparation, implementation, evaluation and follow-up of aspects of the New Student Orientation Program.
      • Assist with the interviewing, hiring and training of 32 Orientation Leaders.
      • Attend all mandatory staff training dates, all New Student Orientation days, and be available to work early morning and overnight on orientation days.
      • Work in a professional setting and promote higher education to prospective students and their parents.
      • Maintain professionalism, a sincere, friendly, honest and caring demeanor, and advocate and represent California State University, Stanislaus.
      • Maintain flexible work schedule (20 hours during the academic year, 40 hours during the summer months).
      • Follow through on all assignments and adhere to University and departmental policies and procedures.
      • Must be able to address and speak professionally in front of small and large groups of new students energetically and enthusiastically.
      • Assist with Engage and its daily functions, operations and communication system.
      • Assist with identifying, recording, and communicating program expenditures and receipts to the NSO Coordinator as assigned.
      • Prepare program documents, communication and other reports inclusive of the NSO Communication Plan and Program Evaluation /Assessment Plan.
      • Other duties as assigned.

       

    • Qualifications
    • Required Qualifications:

      • Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
      • Must have received and accepted Financial Aid award for the current semester/year in which you are applying.
    • Salary Range
    • $16.50 per hour.
