    • Position Summary
    • Full-time temporary position available on or after November 1, 2021 and ending on or before October 31, 2022 in Strategic Planning, Enrollment Management and Innovation (SPEMI). Appointment will be made for one year from date of hire with the possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.

      Reporting to the Vice President of Strategic Planning, Enrollment Management and Innovation (SPEMI), this position collaborates with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Analytics (IEA) and Admissions and Outreach Services (AOS). Responsible for creating, manipulating and editing the Book of Trends. Plan, manage, develop, and implement a variety of key marketing communications designed to reach and engage Stanislaus State prospective student audiences. Consult with and serve as a resource to various University constituencies to develop appropriate design solutions based on brand standards and constituent needs, efficiently managing and producing projects on or before the deadline. This includes checking design proofs and pre-press proofs for accuracy as well as written instructions on printing specifications for clarity. Create and edit written content for video and digital ads, web and marketing publications, promotional materials, brochures, advertisements, and newsletters targeting prospective audiences. Create, support and coordinate marketing initiatives and materials.

    • Job Duties
    • Duties include but are not limited to:
      • Using Adobe Creative Suite software, prepare, plan, and execute the design and graphic production of single-page and multi-page publications, large format banners and posters, stationery and invitations, and a variety of other printed and promotional materials.
      • Provide creative, artistic direction on proper artistic and graphic concepts, techniques and processes that promote the University’s desired brand image and achieve project goals.
      • Coordinate and organize projects including cost analyses and working with vendors. 
      • Develop strategic, long-term marketing themes and templates to communicate with key constituents.
      • Exercise appreciable judgment, skill and discretion in managing projects and ongoing coworker and client relations.
      • Provide high-level consultation with clients to determine communication concepts and design.
      • Utilize time management tools and skills to meet established deadlines.
      • Create digital content for web and social platforms adhering to University standards and guidelines.
      • Proactively identify ineffective or problematic graphic/visual content on web pages and in other digital communications and suggest changes or corrective actions.
      • Design and produce digital components or marketing communications that maintain high quality presentation, consistent graphic identity, effective visual communication, and maintain the University’s graphic standards.
      • Create digital photos/videos using standard professional photography/videography practices. In response to direction from assigned manager, capture appropriate images/video to illustrate marketing messages and enhance the image of the university.
      • Process new images/video; manipulate, optimize and edit according to specific need. Deliver images/video for inclusion in university photo library and archiving system.
      • Weekly staff meetings.
      • Weekly and monthly report of activities.
      • Maintenance of historical records.
      • Participate in procedural updates.
      • Provide training to work study students and student assistants/volunteers.
      • Perform other duties as assigned.
      • Other duties as assigned.

    • Minimum Qualifications
    • Education: A college degree in graphic design, fine arts, or a related field or through technical experience and/or relevant coursework.

      Experience: Two years of professional work experience in marketing, graphic design, public relations, or communications

    • Preferred Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Art, Visual Arts, Communications, Marketing, Management or related field.
      • MA or MFA in graphic design or visual communications.
      • Four years of experience in a related field.
      • Previous experience in a higher education setting.
      • Ability to ensure all jobs adhere to approved Stan State brand and graphics/editorial guidelines.
      • Ability to prepare and package files for print.
    • Required Qualifications

      • Foundation knowledge in the principles and techniques of artistic and graphic design as well as demonstrated design and artistic skills.
      • Must have strong communication skills and the ability to use and maintain currency with applicable computer software packages and systems.
      • Comprehensive knowledge of graphic design and production principles and communication theory including a basic understanding of marketing and promotion concepts.
      • Strong graphic design skills and artistic ability in order to translate communication needs into an artistic design.
      • Solid working knowledge of applicable graphic design software packages and hardware systems and peripherals.
      • Ability to use interactive technologies and to create new methods for combining software and graphic packages to address communication and visual product goals.
      • Ability to understand university level curriculum concepts and convey them graphically.
      • Thorough knowledge of current campus documents and university-wide publication needs.
      • Thorough understanding of printing and other vendor services to prepare specifications for printing and other services.
      • Ability to prepare camera-ready materials and a working knowledge of design and electronic prepress processes used in the production of complex publications.
      • Ability to plan, coordinate and direct graphic art communications projects and handle multiple priorities.
      • Working knowledge of copyright laws applicable to design work and creative properties.
      • Ability to consult and communicate effectively with faculty, staff and students and to interpret and translate their needs into effective visual formats.

    • Salary Range
    • $3,717 - $6,726 per month plus excellent paid benefits.  (Anticipated salary will be $3,717 – $4,089 per month, depending on the qualifications of the successful finalist.)
