    • Position Summary
    • One temporary hourly-intermittent Work Study position in Dean of Students - Basic Needs.

    • Start Date
    • Position available on or after May 10, 2021 and ending on or before May 28, 2021. Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.

    • Job Description/Duties
    • Duties include but are not limited to:
      • Serve as Basic Needs Ambassador lead and facilitate outreach and awareness of food and housing insecurity and the basic needs services. Such awareness events may include: New Student Orientation, virtual presentations, half-day workshops, weekly tabling on campus, presentations to various clubs or organizations, to classrooms at faculty request, and to select campus groups (i.e. the Academic Success Center Peer Mentors).
      • Assist with developing Basic Needs Ambassador outreach program: workshop timeline, explore certificate program, develop Basic Needs resource guide and create content for Basic Needs Ambassador website.
      • Assist with organizing Basic Needs Ambassador trainings, the Campus Cares Resource Fair, Share the Love Week and other events associated with the National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week.
      • Assist with developing content for dedicated webpage for the Basic Needs Ambassadors as well as, develop an electronic request form for campus community to request presentations.
      • Assist with implementing Basic Needs Ambassadors presentations to local colleges for students transferring to Stan State.
      • Assist with training and leading student assistants, interns and volunteers.
      • Assist with collecting data on the outreach and awareness activities and create written and visual summaries.
      • Assist with program development, program assessment and outreach and engagement on both the Turlock and Stockton Campus.
      • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and peers on outreach and awareness projects and presentations.
      • Assist with efforts to educate and market via social media, print, and other formats. 
      • Assist in referring students to additional campus resources as needed. Refer students to Basic Needs Coordinators or Care Manager for additional resources as needed.

      Other duties as assigned.

    • Qualifications
    • Preferred Qualifications:
      • Demonstrates possession of a Bachelor’s Degree and currently enrolled in the Master of Social Work program.
      • Demonstrates the ability to work well individually or in a team.
      • Demonstrates the ability to think logically, rationally and creatively.
      • Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills.
      • Demonstrates a strong sense of ethics and moral values while conducting research.
      • Demonstrates good judgement when handling sensitive and/or confidential materials.
      • Demonstrates dependability and able to follow-through on assignments.
      • Demonstrates the ability to work with a diverse population.
      • Demonstrates prior experience developing and facilitating presentations.
      • Demonstrates prior experience working with or awareness of college students who have experienced food insecurity and/ or financial hardships or emergencies.
      • It is preferred, but not required, that the incumbent has experienced food or housing insecurity.

      Required Qualifications:
      • Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.

    • $15.00 per hour
