    • Position Summary
    • Full time position available on or after July 1, 2020 for the Office of Information Technology.


      Reporting to the Deputy Chief Information Officer, this position is responsible for managing the Information Services group within the Office of Information Technology. The Information Services group provides programming and database management and administration support for all computer-supported applications within the University such as Oracle/PeopleSoft and all other administrative systems, web applications, learning management systems, data warehouse and business intelligence applications. Information Services is the primary contact point for all systems analysis, programming, database administration, security, web development, business continuity and disaster recovery planning service support requests fulfilled by OIT.

      The incumbent will manage a professional staff of analyst programmers, database administrators, and web developers within Information Services providing software technical support and application development. The incumbent is responsible for developing and maintaining working relationships with management and administrative support staff working outside of OIT to ensure their information needs are addressed.


    • Job Duties
    • Duties include but are not limited to:
      • Staff supervision, including the following: interview and select employees; train and orient employees; plan, assign, and direct work; set goals and objectives; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems; provide leadership and motivation for staff growth and development.
      • Manage the work of the Information Services staff that provides support to administrative system users.
      • Manage the database administration and data warehouse functions and integration with learning management systems.
      • Mentor and lead staff to be effective system support providers.
      • Manage work assignments and schedules for staff to provide accurate and timely support of the university’s administrative and learning management systems.
      • Work with management and staff in departments and with other CSU campuses in the implementation and support of shared administrative systems and technology.
      • Assist staff throughout the university in solving problems and coordinate resources within OIT to assist as appropriate.
      • Establish a regular way to meet and communicate with staff, providing a forum for non-OIT technical staff to contribute to the improvement of the university’s business procedures and share necessary information.
      • Guide the design and evolution of system architecture planning for all locally maintained systems.
      • Attend meetings with other OIT managers, consult with campus wide teams, work within IT Governance and perform tasks as assigned for the AVP/CIO.
      • Maintain awareness of current technical developments through research, self-study, and participation in formal training programs.
      • Other duties as assigned.


    • Minimum Qualifications
    • Five years of directly related technical experience in an administrative technology setting and a minimum of five years of experience leading teams and/or projects in a directly related field.
    • Preferred Qualifications

      • Advanced degree. Prior work experience in a higher education setting.
      • Prior experience with PeopleSoft application software.
      • Experience in a remote work and education environment.
    • Required Qualifications

      • Thorough understanding of administrative applications, data base, learning management, data warehouse and business intelligence software.
      • Knowledge of information security and confidentiality rules and regulations (i.e. FERPA, HIPAA, etc.).
      • Knowledge of the requirements of the American With Disabilities Act and its application to technology.
