Full-time (non-tenure track) Lecturer - Liberal Studies: Elementary Teaching Content Preparation, beginning Fall 2020. The candidate appointed will teach a combination of courses in the Liberal Studies major. Candidates for this position must be able to advance the College of Education, Kinesiology, and & Social Work’s mission to develop diverse educational leaders who can meet the needs of a multicultural and multilingual society. We seek candidates with teaching interests and expertise in educational foundations, educational technology, curriculum development, asset-oriented pedagogy and at least one other area: elementary math/science methodology, reading/writing methodology, bilingual education, and/or special education. We particularly seek candidates whose approach to preparing future teachers is asset-orientated and driven by equity, inclusion, and social justice. Assignment may include teaching at our satellite campus in Stockton and academic advising. This position is contingent upon the availability of authorized funding.


• Master’s degree in relevant field required, doctorate in education preferred.
• At least three years of working with students in a K-12 educational setting with a diverse student body. It is strongly preferred that the candidate also holds teaching credential.
• Evidence of teaching effectiveness.

The Liberal Studies: Elementary Teaching Content Preparation major is a pre-professional program leading to Multiple Subject or Special Education credential programs. Our mission is to ensure that students graduate with a strong subject matter background and necessary experience and context to prepare them for a teaching career in elementary education. The Department of Liberal Studies is part of the College of Education, Kinesiology and Social Work which offers multiple, single and special education credential programs, as well as programs in School Counseling, School Administration, Reading Specialist and Educational Technology.  It offers Master’s Degrees and a Doctoral Program (Ed.D) in Educational Leadership.  Faculty have opportunities to teach in all programs in the College.  Learn more about us at:

The university requires a criminal and/or child abuse background check to be completed for many of its new employees, current employees seeking promotional or transfer opportunities, and current employees assigned new duties. Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.
