Job Summary  

The Admissions Coordinator/Recruiter (UOSR Programs) performs a range of professional student services duties in a centralized admissions environment. Under general supervision, the position advises prospective students and families on admission requirements and processes, coordinates recruitment activities, and supports the university’s enrollment goals at targeted high schools and community colleges. 

Furthermore, the incumbent provides services that are equitable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive to enhance the quality of campus life. This position uses a student-centered and equity-minded approach in all communication and service efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruitment and Outreach: represent CSULB at college fairs and similar external events, recruit at high schools and community colleges.
  • Program coordination and large-scale event/yield activities coordination.
  • Admissions Counseling and Advising: implement communications plan for students and counselors, support pre-admissions and application support to prospective students both in-person and virtually.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Strong communication and public speaking skill; ability to conduct presentations to groups of varying sizes. Ability to interpret and apply admissions policies and provide clear guidance to students and families. Experience providing admissions counseling or equivalent advising experience. General knowledge of CSU/CSULB application and admission requirements and procedures, academic offerings and student support services for diverse student populations. Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Familiar with CRM systems (Slate), PeopleSoft, or similar student information systems.  Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work as part of a team effectively and productively through close collaboration with colleagues and others. Ability to keep work relationships with colleagues and maintain a positive and respectful attitude.  Ability to resolve problems in a calm diplomatic manner when issues arise. Flexibility to pivot to changing priorities and ability to adjust to complete all projects, events, and activities on time.  Ability to accept new assignments and work independently as needed. Ability to drive and transport oneself to various school sites and events for recruitment and outreach. Treats all customers (prospective students, faculty and staff colleagues) with dignity and respect, empathy, fairness and professionalism, consistent with the university mission, values and strategic vision. Experience representing a department/organization as knowledgeable and authoritative while remaining supportive, calm and professional even under highly charged circumstances.

Ability to handle information in a confidential and professional manner. Ensures operational integrity and continuity by maintaining detailed descriptions of responsibilities, ranging from daily tasks to strategic activities and outcomes, and makes them available to supervisor.  Ensures quality, usability and integrity of system data by working within approved processes and testing procedures.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.  Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.  Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience

• Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field and two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas required.

• Occasional evenings and weekends during peak recruitment seasons.

Physical Summary

Medium work - Job involves lifting heavy-weight objects (20-40 pounds) and/or 20% - 40% of the job involves standing, squatting, kneeling, or walking. May require pushing or pulling objects within the weight limits.

Compensation 

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

Hiring Rate: The hiring rate for this position is $5,083 per month.

CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $5,083 - $7,228 per month.

1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment 

This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.

Additional Information
