Job Summary:

The mission of Academic Success and Undergraduate Advising (ASUA) is to support holistic academic services through various departmental programs and resources that promote equity, retention, timely graduation, and student-defined success for all undergraduate students.

The Graphic Design Student Assistant will support the Office of Academic Success and Undergraduate Advising assisting with designing basic print and digital materials. The Financial Operations Analyst will provide lead work direction to student assistants.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Design and maintain a wide variety of flyers, brochures, invitations, merchandise, social media graphics, and more for both print and digital campaigns.
  • Provide mockups for promotional items.
  • Make edits to existing designs in Adobe CC
  • Design within the university brand
  • Maintain organized and up to date job files.
  • Work closing with SCO and attend monthly meetings.
  • Keep the graphic design SA handbook up to date.
  • Submit electronic marquee requests for promotional material.
  • Interview and train a team of designers.
  • Attend virtual/in-person campus events upon request.
  • Collaborate with the ASUA marketing team.
  • Proofread content before submission.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Required Education and Experience

  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
  • Special Qualification: Admission or registration as a CSU student.

Required Qualifications

  • Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
  • Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)
  • International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB. (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate)
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Payroll Requirement: Social Security Card

Preferred Qualifications

  • Adobe InDesign and Illustrator knowledge preferred.
  • Skills in other Adobe CC programs and/or social media is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of fundamental layout and typographical design elements.
  • Macintosh platform preferred.
  • Communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a group.
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to respond positively to feedback.
  • Passionate about expanding their design skill set.
  • Maintain organized job files


Compensation and Benefits:

Student Employment Anticipated Hiring Range: $16 - $17 per hour.

The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.


Position Information:

Work status: Part-Time, Temporary, Seasonal

Academic year available hours: Monday through Friday (8:00 am – 5:00 pm).

Summer available hours: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm).

Background Check

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) may be required for student employment purposes.
