    • Position Summary
    • Two (2) temporary hourly-intermittent student assistant positions in the art department.  

    • Start Date
    • Position available on or after May 6, 2024 and ending on or before May 30, 2024. Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.

    • Job Description/Duties
    • Duties include but are not limited to:
      • Welcomes visitors to the gallery.
      • Provide visitors with information, directions, and assistance.
      • Monitor galleries to keep art safe, and communicate off-limits boundaries with guests.
      • Provide assistance in attending and monitoring receptions, programs, educational activities, and other events.
      • Provide general information about the exhibition, artist, media, technique, or other questions.
      • Installation and deinstallation assistance with exhibitions, hanging and taking down art work.
      • Keeping gallery attendance trackers updated.
      • Answer phones and respond to incoming inquiries.

      Other duties as assigned.

    • Qualifications













    • Preferred Qualifications:
      • Demonstrates familiarity with art in all its various media.
      • It is preferred, but not required, that the incumbent is enrolled as an art major and is knowledgeable about the range of art making.
      • Demonstrates prior experience with attending gallery events and exhibitions.
      • Demonstrates prior experience with installing and deinstalling art work of various kinds.
      • Demonstrates experience with handling hand and power tools.

      Required Qualifications:
      • Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
      • Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.
    • Special Conditions


    • The schedule for this position is flexible in nature, some evenings and weekends will be required. Students must be able to lift and handle reasonable amounts of weight, around 40 pounds, to ensure they are capable of installing and handling art work without dropping or damaging it. Students will be asked to physically install the artwork, which may require using hand tools and power tools, climbing ladders, adjusting lights, lifting art, moving art, and other similar physical activities.

    • $16.00 per hour
