    • Position Summary
    • (Classified as: Reprographics Specialist II) 

      Full-time temporary position available on or after February 3, 2025 and ending on or before February 2, 2025 in Print Shop. Appointment will be made for one year from date of hire with the possibility of reappointment and/or becoming permanent based on budget, department needs, and job performance.

      Under general supervision the Incumbent will perform complex technical duties typically functions such as printing, copying, and binding. Work requires higher level skills and a broader or more specialized knowledge base of reprographics, as well as working knowledge of and the ability to operate the digital and computer equipment and systems used in printing and copying. The incumbent will provide customer service at the print shop counter, engaging with a diverse range of departments across campus. Incumbents may be responsible for providing lead work direction to student assistants.

      The Print Shop provides a wide range of print material and media including, but not limited to, campus stationery, brochures, newsletters, banners, posters, magnets, signage, fabric printing and CD and DVD reproduction.

    • Job Duties
    • Duties include but are not limited to:
      • Prepare materials for production, including graphics manipulation, limited graphic design, desktop publishing, and imposing files.
      • Perform high-speed duplication, including basic variable data; prepare files and equipment for copying; review proofs and final products before release.
      • Execute high-quality digital printing, including advanced variable data; manipulate color values; set up files and equipment for printing and finishing; review proofs and final samples before release.
      • Operate and set up single- to multi-color offset presses; mix inks, monitor density and registration; perform finishing work after printing; process files for printing output.
      • Set up and monitor machines for binding; perform hand bindery tasks; troubleshoot and maintain bindery equipment.
      • Conduct regular and special maintenance on printing, copying, and bindery equipment to ensure optimal machine performance based on manufacturer specifications and schedules.
      • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues, initiating maintenance and service calls as necessary, record issues and actions in the maintenance log book.
      • Assist customers with production orders; perform estimating, scheduling, and tracking of jobs; oversee the shipping and delivery of finished products.
      • Maintain department budgets, billing records, and inventories; coordinate supplies and materials.
      • Provide lead work direction to student assistants, ensuring adherence to departmental standards and quality.
      • Ensure safety protocols and quality control measures are followed in all areas of the printing and reprographics process.
      • May be required to obtain additional training and/or certification as part of professional development, based on department and/or campus needs, to stay current with industry standards.
      • The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to this classification.
      • At the direction of appropriate administrator, may provide support to other departments/areas withing functional area/department as needed.

    • Minimum Qualifications
    • Education: High school education or equivalent certification.

      Experience: One year of related experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

    • Preferred Qualifications

      • Two (2) years of printing experience.
      • Two (2) years of digital printing experience.
      • Three (3) years of Graphic design experience.
      • Three (3) years of print shop or related area experience.
      • Experience Adobe Creative Suite.
      • Experience with Printer’s Plan MIS, software management of color spectrums or related programs.
      • Prior experience in CSU or higher education setting.
    • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

      • Working knowledge of and the ability to use standard PC and Apple platforms, their operating systems and applicable software.
      • Demonstrated understanding of and ability to operate a wide range of reprographics equipment and systems, including, but not limited to, the ability to operate pre-press equipment/software, high speed copiers (black & white and color), offset presses up to two-color, and bindery equipment. Ability to learn new equipment and processes quickly, as well as troubleshoot applicable equipment. Requires basic knowledge of lithography and reprographics systems and operations.
      • Ability to produce basic variable data on high-speed copiers.
      • Working knowledge of desktop publishing and graphic software and the ability to manipulate and translate media, as well as process and enhance electronic files through pre-press software. Working knowledge of campus graphics standards and procedures.
      • Familiarity with paper stock and other materials used in printing.
      • Working knowledge of mixing and matching ink, manipulating color values, and ensuring even density on the sheet and consistent color throughout the job using applicable equipment.
      • Ability to manipulate and set up files and equipment in the production of a wide range of specialized material and media such as but not limited to CD, DVD, posters, banners, magnets, signs, and fabric printing.
      • Work may require working knowledge of applicable U.S. Postal Service requirements and processes related to standard and automated mailing processes and other shipping and receiving methods.
      • Demonstrated ability to adjust and adapt to a changing work environment and requirements including the ability to quickly learn to operate applicable new equipment/software and to obtain certifications when applicable.
      • Ability to follow and comply with all safety and work rule regulations.
      • Ability to work within a diverse environment and be service oriented in working with customers, which includes staff, faculty and students, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships within and outside the print shop.
      • Effective communication and customer service skills.
      • If assigned, ability to provide lead work direction to student assistants.
    • Special Conditions

      • May be required to work after-hours, evenings, or weekends.
      • Travel between Turlock and Stockton Campuses or third party agencies.
    • License or Certifications

      • Valid California Driver’s License required.

    • Salary Range
    • Anticipated salary will be $3,680 - $4,048 per month plus excellent paid benefits. Salary will depend on the qualifications of the successful finalist. (Full range: $3,680 - $5,558 per month)
