    • About the Department: The Learning Commons is the campus resource for learning support. They offer peer-led learning support for a variety of courses through Supplemental Instruction, Tutoring, and Writing Centers along with resources, strategies, and workshops to help students reach their academic goals.       Duties include but are not limited to:
      • Support the research and evaluation of programs; and also initiatives designed to support resilience in students and resilience-building systems related to learning support and academic success in higher education.
      • Assist in a variety of projects; which may include research on student success narratives, the impact of learning support programs and models on student success, understanding the learning support needs and strengths of incoming first-year students or assisting with data collection and analysis for program certification.
      • Assist with ongoing research.
      • Perform data entry, analysis of assessment results, conduct literature reviews of scholarly research, facilitate focus groups, and give informal/formal presentations of the research.
      • Assist staff, as needed, with ongoing services including designing infographics, creating research materials, and/or observing classes.

      Other duties as assigned.

    • Qualifications

    • Preferred Qualifications:
      • Majoring in one of the following subjects: Arts, Biology, Cognitive Studies, Education and Liberal Studies, Management, Marketing, Philosophy, Psychology, Public Health Promotion, Sociology, Social Sciences, or related field; and is pursuing a career in Education, Community Engagement, Counseling, Human Resources, Organizational Management, Psychology, Research and Analysis, Social Work, Social Services, Wellness, or Writing.
      • Demonstrates interest in, and knowledge of, quantitative or qualitative research, data collection or analysis.
      • Demonstrates the ability to use programs like Word, Excel, Qualtrics, PowerPoint, Zoom, etc.
      • Demonstrates respect and compassion for participants, collaborators, and colleagues.
      • Demonstrates the ability to be dependable and follows through on assignments.
      • Requests and is receptive to feedback.
      • Demonstrates the ability to work well in groups.

      Required Qualifications:
      • Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
      • Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.

    • $15.50 per hour
