POSITION:

TEMPORARY FULL-TIME LECTURER IN School of Nursing: The Department of Nursing invites applications for a temporary lecturer appointment. Candidates selected will hold 15 units/semester in a combination of instruction, student placement, program accreditation requirements, and other duties in the School of Nursing. This is a full-time instructional position (1 yr appt to be reevaluated). This position is contingent upon the availability of authorized funding.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Instructors are required to have a minimum of a Master's of Science Degree in Nursing with a Doctorate Degree preferred. A minimum of two years of nursing instructional and simulation experience. A minimum of two years of full-time practice as a nurse practitioner. Knowledge and skills related to teaching adults, teaching methodology, curriculum development, evaluations, or willingness to plan for acquisition of these skills not later than the first year of teaching. A current and unobstructed California License. A current and unobstructed California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing License. A current national Nurse Practitioner Certification. American Heart Association Basic Life Support Health provision Certification.

REQUIRED 
QUALIFICATIONS:

A full-time faculty in the School of Nursing Master's of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program develops, implements, and evaluates the FNP program on an ongoing basis. This position participates in selecting students, curriculum development, program revisions, program evaluations, textbook selection, teaching in the classroom, simulation and health assessment labs, and practicum setting, evaluation of student achievement, and other matters as assigned in accordance with the mission, core values, and purposes of the university and School of Nursing. In addition, this position will assist the Graduate Director in placements of students in practicum sites/agencies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Leadership, organizational and strong interpersonal and communications skills.
- Technological and computer skills sufficient to participate and direct classroom and virtual learning activities with IT support.
- Analytic writing skills with grant writing experience desirable.
- A background check (which may include: checks of employment, education records, criminal records, civil records, motor vehicle records, professional licenses, and sex offender registries as position requires) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU.
- Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.

A current and unobstructed California License.
A current and unobstructed California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing License.
A current national Nurse Practitioner Certification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. The position may be required to frequently sit, move, and stand for standard office functions. Requirements may include the need to sit or work at a computer terminal for long periods of time on projects. Requirements may include moving and stocking lab supplies and class materials of approximately 10-50 pounds. May be required to travel across campus to other offices and buildings. Travel to meetings/trainings both on and off campus may be necessary.

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CLEARANCE NOTICE

 

The university requires a criminal and/or child abuse background check to be completed for many of its new employees, current employees seeking promotional or transfer opportunities, and current employees assigned new duties. Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment.
