    • Position Summary
    • Multiple temporary hourly-intermittent Student Assistant positions in Student Leadership and Development.  

    • Start Date
    • Position available on or after October 26, 2020 and ending on or before May 28, 2021. Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.

    • Job Description/Duties
    •  Duties include but are not limited to:
      • Assist in serving as a positive role model.
      • Assist in welcoming new students and assist them during orientation sessions.
      • Assist in acting as a resource person and develop good rapport with new students.
      • Assist in working with faculty and staff members, other Orientation Leaders and members of Stanislaus State administration to facilitate the success of all aspects of the New Student Orientation Program.
      • Assist in facilitating icebreakers and other engaging group activities.
      • Assist in facilitating small group discussions related to academic and community expectations, student life issues and answer participant questions.
      • Assist in aiding in the development of class schedules and assist in the registration progress.
      • Assist in the preparation, implementation and evaluation of the New Student Orientation Program.
      • Assist Student Leadership and Development by becoming knowledgeable through training on various aspects of the University.

      Other duties as assigned.

    • Qualifications
    • Preferred Qualifications:
      • Demonstrates the potential for leadership and skills including, working in a team environment and time management.
      • Demonstrates the commitment to the mission of New Student Orientation.
      • Demonstrates the capacity to possess the following personal qualities: maturity, responsibility, initiative, self-esteem, motivation, enthusiasm, and high energy level.
      • Demonstrates good interpersonal and group communication and presentation skills.
      • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of team members.
      • Demonstrates enrollment as a full time student, with a standing GPA of 2.5 or higher.
      • Demonstrates familiarity with virtual online platforms such as Zoom, Canvas, GroupMe Application, and Microsoft Office software.
      • Demonstrates personal skills and qualities including creativity, patience, attention to details and the ability to multitask.
      • It is preferred, but not required, that the incumbent has at least one season of experience in Orientation Leadership.

      Required Qualifications:
      • Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
      • Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.

    • $14.00 per hour
