CHEMISTRY AND BIOCHEMISTRY DEPARTMENT, PART-TIME LECTURER POOL

The Chemistry & Biochemistry Department in the Bailey College of Science and Mathematics at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo is accepting applications for the part-time lecturer pool. Teaching positions available as determined by need during Fall, Winter, and/or Spring quarters of the 2025-26 academic year. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications, experience and time base.

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:

Lecturer A: $5,507-$6,677
Lecturer B: $6,221-$13,224
Lecturer C: $6,825-$14,523
Lecturer D: $8,593-$15,211

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master's degree in Chemistry or a related discipline is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Doctoral degree in Chemistry or a related discipline is preferred.

The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Chemistry and Biochemistry Department's mission is to serve the many technological and general education programs of the University as well as prepare students to be professional chemists and biochemists. Facilities include an excellent variety of instruments for faculty and student use. B.S. degrees in chemistry and biochemistry are offered as well as a Master's degree in Polymers and Coatings. The department is A.C.S. certified.
