Assistant Professor of City & Regional Planning San Luis Obispo
The City and Regional Planning Department seeks a full-time, academic year, tenure-track Assistant Professor with demonstrated strength in community planning, policy analysis, and community-based learning and research projects aimed at promoting equitable and sustainable communities. This faculty member will contribute to service learning, specifically for Central California communities and the broader region. We welcome candidates engaged in practice or research that advances equity considerations in planning and public policy.​ We are particularly interested in candidates whose teaching and research connect community planning to pressing urban and regional issues such as housing affordability, displacement, community development, cultural preservation, public health, equitable mobility, and hazard mitigation. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in some of the following areas: community planning studios, policy development and analysis, community engagement, quantitative and qualitative research methods, geospatial data analysis, and data visualization. Teaching includes laboratory (studio) and lecture format courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

The Community Service Specialist serves as a visible security presence on the campus, and within its buildings as assigned, performs security services such as patrolling campus on foot, bike or vehicle to protect campus community and visitors, provides public safety support and assistance to campus police, enforces campus ordinances and parking regulations, and issues citations to violators. Incumbent also provides information to the University Police Department (UPD) regarding any unusual occurrences and/or activities on and around campus.

***INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY*** Under general oversight from the College Dean, the Administrative Analyst/Specialist administers the financial and personnel resources of the College of Natural Sciences; consisting of 8 departments, 3 centers and/or programs, with approximately 175 faculty, 15 Teaching Associates, 40 staff/MPP and 100 student employees and a complex baseline budget totaling $16 Million annually. The incumbent works closely with the Dean, Associate Dean and Chairs/Directors to align resources with the College’s strategic and operational goals and to ensure the college is compliant with Federal, State, System and institutional policies and procedures for fiscal and personnel actions. This position oversees budget allocations for all departments within the College of Natural Sciences, participates in strategic planning for the college, and is expected to take initiative, work independently and be accountable for work results in planning, organizing, analyzing and reporting. Additionally, this position works collaboratively with managers and staff in the Divisions of Academic Affairs, Business and Finance, Regional and Continuing Education, Human Resources, Information Resources, University Advancement, Student Affairs, Public Affairs, and Auxiliary Organizations to advance the interests of the College.
