JOB SUMMARY

The School of Social Work seeks applicants for its part-time lecturer pool to teach bachelor’s and master’s level classes in micro practice, macro practice, human behavior in the social environment, research methods, and practicum seminar at our San Bernardino and Palm Desert Campus locations, as well as in our online master’s program. Minimum qualifications include a master’s degree in social work from a CSWE accredited program or a doctoral degree in social work, two years’ post master’s work experience, evidence of teaching effectiveness, and experience working with diverse populations and community partners. Preferred qualifications vary depending on the type of course assigned and may include: a PhD (research methods) or an LCSW (micro practice/practicum seminar, and 5 years’ experience in clinical social work (micro practice/practicum seminar). 
This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary and all appointments are temporary. Staffing decisions are made on a rolling basis typically beginning a few months prior to the start of an academic term right up to the beginning of the academic term. We recommend submitting your application at least 4 months before the beginning of an academic term to be considered for available positions. Per university policy, instructors in our campus-based programs must reside in California.

 

TYPICAL ACTIVITIES

Preferred candidates will be expected to meet the traditional requirements of excellence in teaching.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must hold a master’s degree in social work from a CSWE accredited program or a doctoral degree in social work at the time of employment and demonstrate evidence of teaching effectiveness. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preferred qualifications vary depending on the type of course assigned and may include: a PhD (research methods) or an LCSW (micro practice/practicum seminar, and 5 years’ experience in clinical social work (micro practice/practicum seminar). 

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with CSUSB. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may result in the withdrawal of the offer of employment. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Lecturer A                           (Range 2) - $5,507 – $6,677

Lecturer B                           (Range 3) - $6,221 – $13,224

Lecturer C                           (Range 4) - $6,825 – $14,523

Lecturer D                           (Range 5) - $8,593 – $15,211
